April 15th 1943 - Malahat Lodge No. 107 and Temple Lodge, No. 33................

I wish to thank the Wor. Brethren of Chemainus Lodge, District No. 5, for their assistance at the installation of Malahat and Temple Lodges, thus relieving brethren of the Victoria District, who, due to the gasoline situation, find it impossible to drive great distances to attend meetings.

Before concluding my report I wish to make the following recommendation to the Lodges in District No. 1: Owing to the existing war conditions restricting travel, principally through gasoline shortage, I would like to suggest that the lodges arrange to have the officers installed by one of their own P.M.`s, P.D.D.G.Ms of P.G.Ms. This would greatly relieve the many duties of the D.D.G.M.

Respectfully submitted,

E.W. Hetherington, D.D.G.M., District No. 1"

".........On the 20th of April [1948] the Most Worshipful Grand Master, accompanied by M.W. Bro. W.R. Simpson, visited Temple Lodge and Malahat Lodge at a joint communication at Duncan. The membership of both Lodges was well represented and it was a great priviledge to hear a further inspiring address given by the Most Worshipful Grand Master M.W. Bro. W.R. Simpson gave a most interesting address concerning symbolism of the Master Mason Degree. The Lodges were hosts to the assembled Brethren at a delightful supper when the Most Worshipful Grand Master and Grand Secretary had the advantage of meeting personally with the Brethren, all of whom expressed thanks for a most instructive and pleasant evening........
